ALFRED, Maine (AP) A judge has told a Maine woman charged with killing her husband in a driveway that her request to withdraw a guilty plea could result in more prison time.
Kandee Collind initially pleaded guilty to the reckless and knowing murder of Scott Weyland in August, but has asked to withdraw that plea. She says she wasn’t thinking clearly at the time she entered it.
Justice Wayne Douglas told her during a Thursday court appearance in Alfred that a plea she previously negotiated would have capped her sentence at 32 years.
The Portland Press Herald reports Douglas told Collind to “think carefully about this and talk to your lawyers about it.” The sentence for conviction of the charge is 25 years to life.
Authorities say the stabbing happened in Acton in 2017.
