Homicide Ruled in a Union Pond Drowning

The body of a Tenants Harbor woman found in a pond in Union this past week, has been identified as a homicide victim.

In the early morning hours on Thursday, the body of 48-year-old Sunshine Stewart was found after a search by officials.

She was reported missing after she didn’t come back to shore after a paddleboarding trip.

The Maine State Police haven’t released the cause of death or identify of a suspect in the killing.

If you do remember seeing Stewart paddleboarding near 100 Acre Island on Crawford Pond between 6 and 9pm on Wednesday, you’re asked to contact the Maine State Police at 207-624-7076.
