Portland Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car Sunday

A 37-year-old Portland man is dead after being hit by a car in Portland Sunday night.

Police say a car driven by a 26-year-old Portland man hit the victim, who was walking in the roadway in the 600 block of Riverside Street just before 7:30 last night.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Portland Police say no charges have been filed at this time but are asking witnesses who may have seen the crash to contact them at (207) 874-8532 or (207) 874-8575.

The crash remains under investigation.
