Contest Rules:
During the time period of December 15th, 2023 at 9:00 am and December 20th, 2023 at 11:59 pm, website visitors will have the opportunity to listen to 3 segments aired previously on WGAN that were named “caller of the week” and vote for which one is their favorite call. On Thursday, December 21st the votes will be tabulated, and the winning caller will be named “caller of the year” and offered a prize consisting of a $500 Springer’s Jewelers gift card. In addition, one voter will be chosen at random to receive a $250 Springer’s Jewelers gift card.
During The Morning News on WGAN between 6am and 9am, weekdays from 1/1/2023 through the end of 2023, Matt Gagnon will be taking callers who respond to his discussion topics. Each caller who keeps their argument clear and concise (at Matt’s discretion) will move on into the “rack it” category. This will be made clear by Matt saying “RACK IT” while the caller is on the line. Each Friday at 8am, Matt will choose one “rack it” caller at random, to be the “Caller of the Week.” The winner will receive a custom WGAN Morning News Mug and WGAN Tote Bag, values at $25.00. The winner will be notified via phone and email.
Upon signing release forms at the WGAN Studio, 420 Western Avenue in South Portland, Maine, during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm), the winner will receive their prize.
Due to the nature of our programs that are heard on-line over the internet, contests may not be heard at all on WGAN. Contests heard on the radio station’s internet audio stream may be slightly delayed from the time the contests are heard on the broadcast station, and will be running behind the broadcast signal. Thus, all contests heard on the internet are delayed. This delay can last for as much as 30 seconds or more. This means that when WGAN contests are played that require a specific caller to telephone the radio station (such as “Caller number 9 when you hear the sound effect”), listeners to the on-line audio stream may be at a disadvantage in participating over those listeners who hear the contests on-air.
All WGAN contests are open to all eligible Maine residents who live or work within 75 miles of our transmitter 18 or older and have not won anything on WGAN in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.
Employees of WGAN, Portland Radio Group and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WGAN main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
No purchase necessary. WGAN’s sole responsibility will be to award the prize. WGAN will have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, cannot or decides not to use any of the prizes. Winners will be responsible for all federal and state taxes, and any fees and incidentals. Prizes are not transferrable or redeemable for cash.
