Health officials say measles cluster in Penobscot County is contained

The Maine CDC says five cases of measles reported in Penobscot County last month have been contained.

The agency said Thursday the 21-day incubation period for each person ended on Monday, with no close contacts showing any symptoms.

An epidemiologist with the Maine CDC credited the containment of the cases to the quick action of health officials and cooperation from those infected.

The U.S. CDC had reported more than 1,200 measles cases across the country as of March 5.
