2nd Annual “Flags for Community Heroes”

We speak with Rotarian Charlie Friar with Rotary Club of Portland.   Today is the first day that the American flags are displayed in the Maine Mall for the next two weeks. They intentionally choose to annually set up the flags starting on 9/11 because the flags honor community heroes like those that sprung to action on 9/11.  Families sponsored the  flags for their personal hero. Heroes are  veterans, first responders, grocery store clerks or teachers — any person who’s made a difference in the lives of others and has contributed to making our community a more open, safe and vibrant place to live. Veteran Marine Bob Traill was to be Honored with The Paul Harris Fellow Award Today Maine Mall Today has been cancelled due to COVId-19. The fellowship honors those Rotarians who have made significant contributions to their community.
