Biden’s Speech

Matt gives his Analysis on Biden’s Speech last night.

Wednesday night, President Biden gave an Oval Office address – his first on-camera remarks to the nation since announcing his decision *not* to run for re-election on Sunday. Biden said it was time to “pass the torch” to a new generation of leadership, and praised Vice President Kamala Harris – who he’d endorsed on Sunday. Though the President did not mention Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump by name, Biden said democracy was at stake in 2024 – and that in the US, “kings and dictators do not rule… the people do,” and “history is in your hands.” Biden highlighted what he believes are his administration’s greatest achievements – such as lowering the racial wealth gap – and discussed what he plans to do in his remaining 6 months – such as pushing for Supreme Court reform
