Home Energy Assistance Program

Dan Brennan Director of Maine Housing speaks to WGAN Morning News. There is additional funding as a result of COVID. They have an increased amount of funding for HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP). They received an extra $3 million for Maine because of the CARES Act, which was part of Congress’s response to COVID.  If people apply now, they can get a benefit for heating their homes that they have until 4/30/2021 to spend. The only trouble is that they have to apply and be approved by July 15. You apply at your local Community Action Agency (CAA) Get the info and find your Community Action Agency www.mainehousing.org  Or You can call 211.
