Joe Lundberg from AccuWeather discussed the ongoing drought in the U.S., particularly affecting coastal sections and eastern Massachusetts. He noted that while Maine has received sufficient rain, the rest of the region is experiencing varying degrees of drought. Upcoming rainfall from a storm system will bring half an inch to an inch of rain, but it’s expected to have minimal impact on the drought. Lundberg predicted a warmer-than-average August with increased humidity and showers, which could slightly alleviate the drought but may also limit beach weather.

Two unvaccinated Pennsylvania residents have died after being infected with measles, the first U.S. deaths this year related to the contagious virus. State health officials announced the deaths Tuesday. They did not reveal any details about the people who died, other than that they lived in Lancaster County, west of Philadelphia.
