  • DC Mayor Bowser and NYC Mayor Adams Complain about Bussing of Immigrants:

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” last week to discuss the persistent homelessness problem plaguing her city. Host Margaret Brennan brought up a Washington Post report that suggested homeless shelters are now being filled with illegal immigrants being bused in from Texas and Arizona. Bowser admitted that it’s a “significant issue” and called on the federal government to get more involved as she fears illegal immigrants are being “tricked” into traveling to her city.

NYC Mayor Ernie Adams Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday called the Republican governors of Texas and Arizona “cowards” for busing asylum-seeking migrants to Washington, DC — and suggested they lied about not also sending migrants to New York City.

“Our country is home of the free, land of the brave,” Adams said during a City Hall news conference on the topic.

“We do not become cowards and send people away who are looking for help.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey have both publicized their efforts to send migrants to the nation’s capital in response to President Biden’s immigration policies but on Tuesday denied sending any to New York City. Governors Abbott and Ducey have been bussing immigrants to DC after border communities complained about the surge of aliens caused by the open border.

If a city of 8 million and a city of 700k can’t accommodate illegal aliens, how do they expect a city like Del Rio with 30k citizens or a city like Harlingen with 70k to accommodate 200 thousand aliens a month?  Under Biden, every city is a border city.

Over 500k known gotaways since FY22 began

According to numbers released by DHS on Monday, there have been more than 500k known getaways at the US Border since the beginning of FY22 on 10/1/21.  That is already 111k more that all FY21. Since the beginning of FY21, right before the Biden admin was elected, there have been more than 900K gotaways which is bigger than the populations of DC, San Francisco, Denver, Columbus, Nashville, Indianapolis, etc. Just incredible numbers of illegal immigrants flooding into the U.S.

House Democrats Revive Amnesty Push

Dozens of House Democrats this week introduced legislation that would grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who have been in the country for more than seven years — reviving a failed attempt from last year. The “Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929,” is sponsored by 46 lawmakers and would update a registry in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). That registry allows the Homeland Security Secretary to “register” illegal immigrants for permanent status if they have been in the country since before a certain date. That date was last updated to Jan. 1, 1972, during the Reagan administration. The latest Democratic bill would update the registry, but instead of setting a firm date would make the eligibility “rolling,” meaning that illegal immigrants who have been in the country for seven years would be eligible for legalization — and eventual citizenship.

TSA allowing arrest warrants to be used as ID

During questioning by Senator Josh Hawley last week the TSA Administrator admitted that TSA is allowing illegal immigrants to pass through TSA checkpoints using a warrant or arrest paperwork as a form of ID.  This caused a bit of a firestorm in right wing media last week, but this is not a new phenomenon.  For as long as I have been involved with DHS, this has been allowed.  Essentially the NTA or Notice to Appear (aka a permisso) allows aliens to proceed into the interior of the United States to await their immigration court hearing….which many do not attend.

TSA is not law enforcement.  They are security guards whose job involves the protection of our transportation infrastructure, so they do not have arrest authority, etc. and do not have the same access to LE databases that border patrol, CBP, etc. has so Hawley’s contention that they were obligated to stop traffic based on 18 USC 1325 isn’t really relevant.  TSA screeners don’t have the authority to enforce immigration law. But it is extraordinary how many individuals are traveling using these documents and it is important that the public be aware of this.
