Mainers For Energy Choice

Charlie Summers from the Maine Energy Marketers Association discussed LD 556, a bill aimed at protecting energy choice in Maine. The bill prevents towns and cities from banning certain heating equipment or vehicles, allowing residents to choose their home and business heating methods. Summers highlighted that 70% of Maine homes use home heating oil, propane, or natural gas. A public hearing and committee vote favored the bill 7-6. Summers emphasized the importance of maintaining energy options and noted that 90% of Mainers oppose government dictating their energy choices. He urged listeners to contact their legislators to support LD 556.
