We speak with Military Consultant Jeff McCausland from CBS News.  President Joe Biden expressed “support” for Israel’s right to defend itself against rocket attacks during a call on Monday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the eighth day of Israeli-Palestinian fighting. Biden’s move signals U.S. concern for an end to Israel’s part of hostilities with Hamas, although it falls short of joining growing Democratic demands for an immediate cease-fire. The President expressed his support for a ceasefire and discussed U.S. engagement with Egypt and other partners towards that end. The call comes as this increasingly bloody conflict with Hamas moves into its second week. Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system has intercepted the vast majority of the more than 3000 rockets fired by Hamas, but since fighting began, ten Israelis, including two children, have been killed. At least 200 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 50 children.
