Senator Susan Collins

Senator Susan Collins joins Matt Gagnon to go over what she’s working on:

On Tuesday, Senator Collins chaired the Senate’s first hearing on racial disparities in COVID-19 cases.  The State of Maine has the worst racial disparity in COVID-19 cases in the country.  Medical experts and researchers spoke about ways to address this problem.

Also yesterday, Senator Collins and Congressman Golden introduced the Loggers Relief Act to assist family logging and log hauling businesses that have been seriously impacted by COVID-19 and the resulting economic crisis.  The legislation would provide payments to eligible logging businesses that have experienced at least a 10 percent loss in revenues.

Senator Collins has a number of priorities she is pushing for in the Phase 4 COVID-19 relief package, including:

Allowing hard-hit businesses to apply for a second PPP loan                                          Providing direct aid to state, county, and local governments                                            Providing funding to schools to help reopen if they determine it’s safe to do so.

We also check in about her current Campaign.
