The Democratic nominee for Senate in Maine, Graham Platner, says he’s reflecting on a “path forward” in the race, as he denies a new published allegation that he sexually assaulted a former girlfriend. The allegation is made by a woman who dated Graham Platner, on and off, for more than two years. In an interview with POLITICO, she said that in late 2021, Platner entered her home while drunk, and forced himself on her. While Platner says the allegation is false, under state law in Maine, he has a week to decide whether to withdraw from the race, in time for the party to put someone else’s name on the November ballot.
