Workers at a Starbucks location in Biddeford went on a one-day strike Monday.

The workers picketed in response to what they say are unfair labor practices they’ve experienced since voting to join a union.

According to the Portland Press Herald, workers said the company was retaliating against them for voting to join Starbucks Workers United, which was established in 2021 to represent Starbucks employees across the country.

Employees at the Biddeford store said the company was punishing them by cutting store hours.

A Starbucks spokesperson told the Press Herald that hours at individual stores may change based on market conditions and store traffic.

The spokesperson did not respond to allegations of retaliation against the Starbucks workers in Biddeford.
