A 13-year-old boy is dead while two other teenage boys – a 14 and 15 year-old – have serious but non-life-threatening injuries from a pedestrian involved crash in Portland Saturday night.
Police say the three boys were walking on the north side of Warren Avenue towards Riverside Street near the I-95 overpass when they reportedly walked into the roadway and were hit by a vehicle.
Officers say the 13-year-old died at the scene while the other two boys were taken to Maine Medical Center, where they are listed as having serious but not life-threatening injuries. Police say other kids were walking in the group, but were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this point. Police say the driver, a 48-year-old man from Portland, remained the on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. They say the driver was also taken to Maine Medical Center for evaluation with non-life threatening injuries.
The area of Warren Avenue was closed for about five hours during the incident. The crash was reported at 8:46 pm Saturday
