14-year-old charged with firearm theft, terrorizing after allegedly bringing gun to Westbrook High School

Westbrook High School was placed in lockdown Thursday morning after police say a 14-year-old student brought a gun to school.

According to CBS 13 news, school officials were notified about a student in possession of a gun around 10 a.m. Thursday. The student was taken into custody. The school was placed in lockdown for about an hour.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Peter Lancia said there is no threat to safety at the school. Officials said the gun was unloaded.

Police said the student was charged with theft of a firearm and terrorizing.
