AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) A teenager charged with the fatal stabbing of her parents and a pet dog has pleaded guilty to murder.

Nineteen-year-old Andrea Balcer pleaded guilty Wednesday to three felony counts under an agreement that caps her sentence at 55 years.

Balcer has said parents Alice and Antonio Balcer weren’t supportive of her transition from Andrew to Andrea Balcer. Her brother contends their parents were loving and supportive.

The teenager told a police dispatcher that she “snapped” on the night of the stabbings.

A judge previously ruled that Balcer can be tried as an adult. Balcer was 17 at the time of the Oct. 31, 2016, stabbings at their Winthrop home.
