2-vehicle crash in Washington County leaves 11-year-old passenger dead

EDMUNDS TOWNSHIP, Maine (WGAN) An 11-year-old was killed in a crash in Washington County on Wednesday morning.

Shannon Moss with the Maine Department of Public Safety says the crash happened on Route 1 in Edmunds Township at 7:11 a.m.

A driver lost control of his vehicle and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver in the second vehicle also suffered minor injuries, but their child passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are withholding the names of those involved pending completion of the crash report.
