Portland Police are releasing limited information about a Monday afternoon shooting.

Portland Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Nadeau says officers were sent to 22 Sanborn Street in the North Deering section of the city on a report of a shooting that reportedly took place at 4:42 pm. 

Nadeau said officers found a 23-year-old woman from Portland suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to Maine Medical Center and is in stable condition.

A suspect has been detained and the investigation is underway, according to Nadeau. He said police expect to have further details to release on Tuesday.
