The Tyson meat processing plant in Portland re-opened on Thursday, after 51 workers tested positive. Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah says the plant was idled for a few days while universal testing got underway and the plant was deep-cleaned. No new cases had been reported as of Friday.

CDC officials are monitoring a recent outbreak at the Springbrook nursing facility in Westbrook. One new case was reported on Friday, bringing the total number of cases at the facility to 14. Among those, 13 are residents and one is a staff member.

Governor Janet Mills announced Thursday that the state would be more than tripling it’s coronavirus testing capacity thanks to a partnership with IDEXX Laboratories.

Appearing alongside Dr. Shah during Wednesday’s daily briefing, Governor Janet Mills on Wednesday announced the creation of the “Economic Recovery Committee” to come up with ways to blunt the economic impact of the pandemic.
