85 coronavirus cases tied to Millinocket wedding reception, public health officials say

AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) The Maine CDC said Wednesday it has now identified 85 cases of COVID-19 that are linked to a wedding reception in Millinocket.

Public health officials in Maine said Tuesday that the Aug. 7 wedding reception is connected to outbreaks at the York County Jail and the Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison.

Six cases at Maplecrest and 18 at the jail in Alfred are said to be tied to the reception.

Maine’s CDC said in an email Wednesday that “for the Millinocket outbreak, the case total includes 32 primary cases, 33 secondary cases and 20 tertiary cases.”

Also Wednesday, public health officials in Maine reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death, a woman in her 80s from York County.

All told, nearly 4,400 cases have been reported in Maine, and 132 people have died.
