A Fatal Fire at a Mill in Robbins Lumber Kills a Firefighter and Leaves Many Injured

A firefighter has died and many were injured in a massive fire caused by possible explosion in Searsmont

The blaze started around 10 this (Friday) morning in a silo at the Robbins Lumber Mill on Main Street with many fire departments and agencies from surrounding towns called in to help.

Unfortunately found in the rubble a firefighter and was pronounced died at the scene.

The firefighter will be transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed and positive identification confirmed.

The Maine Medical Center in Portland said they’ve had 10 patients transfer from other hospitals to its Emergency Department, that were injured in the incident.

The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office and because of complexity of the scene, the investigation is expected to take some time.
