BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) Acadia National Park has a deal on firewood for local residents.

Spokeswoman Christie Anastasia said the park will sell as much as two cords of wood for a token permit fee of $25 to anybody who lives within 50 miles of Otter Creek.

She tells the Bangor Daily News that people are doing the park a favor by taking the wood.

Superintendent Kevin Schneider said the park sold about 10 cords of wood when it began the wood-sales program last April. The wood was taken down to maintain historic vistas.
