ACTON, Maine (WGAN) An Acton man has been arrested after police say he threatened his mother and two sisters with a knife.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the area of Saunders Lane and Foxes Ridge Road in Acton Tuesday evening for a disturbance. Deputies say they were told Emanuel Slobada was intoxicated and had threatened his mother and two sisters, ages 14 and 18, with physical harm and had tried to assault his mother with a knife.
Around 6 p.m., the family told police they were returning from the YMCA and Slobada appeared to be intoxicated, but also under the influence of something else.
According to witnesses, he was tailgating other motorists, driving in the oncoming lane and also became confrontational if someone motioned or told him to move over. Police say he even followed one driver into a Rite Aid parking lot to confront them.
The family also told police Slobada had been threatening suicide recently and made the threat again while driving. Fearing for her girls and her own safety, his mother asked him to stop the car so they could get out, which angered Slobada.
Police say Slobada stopped on Saunders lane and pulled out a knife, threatening his mother for “telling him to stop the car.” Terrified, his mother and sisters ran out of the car and hit behind a neighbor’s house on Foxes Ridge Road until police arrived.
Slobada was arrested for domestic violence terrorizing. He was taken to York County Jail with no bail allowed. He has a court date in February.
Police say he was arrested for a similar offense in June 2017.
