The Augusta School Board has rejected a proposal to add more religious holidays to the school calendar.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 News, the proposed plan would have recognized several religious holidays from a variety of non-Christian faiths. Schools would have remained open on these holidays.

Board members voted to kill the proposal Wednesday night.
