It’s another hot day in Maine during a warmer than normal summer so far, but there’s relief on the horizon.
Accuweather meteorologist Joe Lundberg thinks there’ll be a few more days reaching 90 degrees, but says they’ll be broken up by frequent cold fronts.
“Looking at August in a big picture, I kind of, think that we’re still going to average out above normal, but there’ll be these frequent funnel passages that will bring relief from any surge in the heat,” said Lundberg.
He says frequent cold fronts will keep lining up to keep hot spells from lingering.
“The fronts will continue to come with regularity, so that keeps it from being a prolonged period of, you know, like day after day where we’re like 85 to 90 or something like that, with high humidity,” Lundberg said. “So, that should break it up quite a bit.”
Meanwhile, Lundberg says the upcoming weekend will “stunningly beautiful” with no heat and humidity and plenty of sunshine.
He does not think the record temperature for Portland of 103 degrees is in danger of being broken anytime soon.
He says a cool-down is expected to begin in the next day as a front moves in from the north and west, bringing more clouds and reducing temperatures along the seacoast.
