Amid the Coronavirus concerns, Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap has announced the closure of all Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices.

He said Tuesday that all BMV offices had been ordered to close, effective immediately.

The closure is in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among staff and the public, Dunlap said.

It will remain in effect until further notice.

Dunlap said he’s working with the Maine legislature to extend all registrations, state ID’s and driver’s licenses that expire during the closure.
