Unrelated to Monday’s blizzard, all schools in MSAD 59 in Madison were closed all day over what the district called “a tragedy impacting the district.”
The school superintendent described the “loss of a valued member of our school district family” in a statement.
Madison Elementary School said it planned to have counselors available to any students, staff, or community members who needed support, as long as the weather permitted.
No further details were released.
Madison is northwest of Skowhegan.
The district said counselors were available during what would have been likely school hours between 8 am and 3 pm Monday and offered to take phone calls to verify availability at 207-696-4607
