Almost 9 Acres Burned in South Berwick Grass Fire

There’s no continued threat after a grass fire burned nearly nine acres in South Berwick Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters say they arrived at 2:11 pm to find a field on fire being driven towards multiple houses and the woods off of Tara Lane.

The fire spread quickly and was elevated to two alarms before being brought under control in about an hour.

Firefighters say the blaze was fully extinguished in just over two hours.

The Maine Forest Service responded and mapped the scene, totaling 8.75 acres burned.
