Old Orchard Beach (WGAN) Police are investigating an armed robbery Thursday afternoon at a restaurant in Old Orchard Beach.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. at the China Eatery on Ocean Park Road.
A male suspect armed with a firearm entered the restaurant and demanded money from the register, and immediately left with an unknown amount of money.

Old Orchard Beach police chief Dana Kelley said a canine from Scarborough came in and tracked the scent to a side street where it ended, indicating the suspect likely entered a car and left the scene. Kelley says his department is collaborating with the several Cumberland County police departments that are also investigating recent robberies, which he believes are related. This was the ninth robbery in southern Maine since March 20, and the first in York County.

The suspect was wearing dark clothing and covering his face. He is described as being around 5’7″ tall, with a thin build and possibly blond hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Old Orchard Beach Police Department at 207-934-4911.
