Arundel Man Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

ARUNDEL, Maine (WGAN)  An Arundel man is behind bars after a domestic assault Wednesday night.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says around 7:30 p.m., they got a call about a domestic assault on Trout Road.  It was reported that two adults and two children were in the residence and the male adult had assaulted the female assault.  It was also reported that the man involved was in possession of a weapon and threatened to shoot himself when police arrived.

Police say the man fled the residence with his gun before they arrived.  The female victim lost sight of him as he disappeared into the dark.

While police were starting their investigation, deputies noticed two vehicles leave a nearby residence and stopped them.  Inside one of the cars was 22-year-old Thomas Kimball, the man involved in the domestic assault.

Kimball was taken into custody without incident.  Police say he was not in possession of a weapon when he was arrested.

Kimball was charged with domestic violence assault with attempted strangulation.  He was taken to York County Jail with no bail allowed due to the charges.  His initial court appearance will be on Friday.

Police say further investigation determined the weapon he had was stashed at a neighboring residence and taken for safekeeping.
