Athens Couple Arrested on Cocaine Charges


ATHENS, Maine (WGAN)  State Police say a couple from Athens has been arrested on cocaine charges.

State Police say troopers responded to a residence in Athens to help with a probation check on 26-year-old Tyler Watson.  Troopers say they found 12 baggies of suspected crack cocaine weighing seven grams.

Police say they also seized 57 hypodermic needles, crack pipes and other drug paraphernalia along with $248 in suspected drug proceeds.

Police say Watson was at home with his wife, 28-year-old Tara Watson and two of their four children.  Tyler and Tara were both charged with unlawful trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child, along with other charges.  Both were taken to Somerset County Jail.

Police say the children were placed into the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
