Auburn police make arrest in connection with fatal Walmart parking lot shooting

AUBURN, Maine (WGAN) Police in Auburn have made an arrest in connection with a shooting death that happened outside of a Walmart in Auburn.

During a press conference Wednesday, Auburn Police Chief Jason Moen said 21-year-old Gage Dalphonse was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with murder in connection with the death.

42-year-old Jean Fournier of Turner was killed in the shooting, which happened Saturday night in the Walmart parking lot.

Chief Moen said the shooting was not a random act of violence and that there was no threat to the public.

Dalphonse was taken to Androscoggin County Jail where he’s currently being held. He’s expected to be arraigned Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Auburn Superior Court.
