Multiple agencies responded to two house fires in Lewiston last night for what officials called an “active crime scene”.

Police first responded to a fire at 146 Grove Street at around 8:45 p.m., with another house fire breaking out two miles away on Sabattus Street shortly afterwards.

Our news partners at CBS 13 spotted a State Fire Marshall’s vehicle at the scene.

As of Sunday afternoon, it’s unclear whether or not the two fires are connected, what started the fires, or if the second fire is considered suspicious.

This comes after three house fires sprang up this past Thursday in Lewiston, though none of the causes of those fires have been pinned on criminal wrongdoing.

This story will be updated.
