FRYEBURG, Maine (WGAN) Police say one person has been taken into custody in connection with a stabbing that left one man dead at the fairgrounds where the Fryeburg Fair takes place.

Police were called to the fairgrounds on Main Street in Fryeburg around 1 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a male who had been stabbed and was unresponsive. They arrived to find a man dead near the restrooms.

He’s been identified as 28-year-old Anderson Gomes of Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded, along with the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team.
