A Maine mother is facing charges after her 1-year-old baby was found alone in a car seat in a cold vehicle on Thursday, police said.

Police said the child was taken to a hospital for treatment of hypothermia and frostbite.

The mother, 32-year-old Ashley Bragg, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and domestic violence reckless conduct.

A relative had reported the child missing on Thursday around 11:20 a.m. It was unclear how long the child had been missing, according to police.

Police said an officer who arrived at the home found the baby in a parent’s car, and the mother arrived moments later.

Bragg was being held Friday on $100,000 cash bail at the Hancock County Jail, according to the Associated Press.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is also investigating the incident.
