BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) A Bangor man faces multiple charges after allegedly threatening to burn down someone’s home.

Police say they responded to “I” Street just before midnight on Tuesday to a report of a man who had displayed a gasoline container and threatened to burn down a resident’s home. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Matthew Gormely of Bangor.

Officers arrived at his home to speak with him, but police say he was uncooperative. Police then used a robot to safely communicate with Gormely to try to get him to come out. He eventually did but still wasn’t cooperating, at which point police say they used a “less lethal” weapon to subdue him. G

ormely was taken into custody and charged with several crimes, including terrorizing and criminal mischief.
