Bangor man charged with assault, endangering welfare of child

A Bangor man is accused of abusing a child who suffered severe burn injuries and bruising.

26-year-old Gabriel Bocanegra faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault on a child under six years old, and endangering the welfare of a child by violating a duty of care or protect.

He was taken into custody by Bangor police on Wednesday following an investigation by police and the Department of Health and Human Services.

The child was brought to a local medical facility on May 5th with suspicious injuries that were not accidental. The case is still under investigation.
