Bangor man killed in I-95 accident Saturday morning

A Bangor man was pronounced dead on the scene Saturday morning, after his car crashed on the I-195 186 off ramp to Stillwater Avenue in Bangor.

James Rice, 38, of Bangor was driving a silver 2005 BMW north on 1-95 when he attempted to exit at 186 to Stillwater Avenue, according to Police. While he excited, Rice’s vehicle failed to properly take the right hand curve and went off the roadway traveling down an embankment, hitting a tree.

Rice, who was alone in the vehicle and wearing a seatbelt at the time, was pronounced dead the scene by Maine State Police.

The off-ramp was closed to traffic for approximately two hours.

Maine State Police was assisted by the Bangor Fire Department.
