Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Bangor on Monday night.

Police say they stopped a vehicle on Garland Street near Essex Street around 6 p.m. Monday. It’s unclear as to why the vehicle was stopped.

A police K9 detected the odor of illegal drugs during the stop. Officers searched the vehicle and found meth and heroin inside as well as over $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds. They seized it and arrested both of the vehicle’s occupants, 30-year-old Corey Pelkey and 29-year-old Katie Ireland, both from Lincoln.

Both were taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with drug trafficking.
