Bangor police say one person was arrested after a dispute at a homeless encampment.

Police say they responded to the waterfront, where the city’s homeless have been camping, on Wednesday morning. They found a man who had allegedly been assaulted and was bleeding from his head. He was taken to a medical care facility.

Police discovered that assault was the result of a dispute between the victim and another man living in the encampment. The suspect is alleged to have used an edged weapon to cut the victim’s tent, which also cut his head, causing a large laceration.

Police arrested and charged 33-year-old Kristopher Marsh with aggravated assault. He’s being held at Penobscot County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Friday.

Police say substance abuse was a factor in the incident.
