Bates, Colby announce Coronavirus cases

Two more colleges in Maine are reporting Coronavirus cases.

A case has been confirmed at Bates College in Lewiston.

School officials did not specify whether the patient is a student or staff member, but that individual is at home in self-isolation.

School leaders say they have been provided a list of individuals who had close contact with the person who tested positive for the virus.

They say they are in the process of contacting those people, and providing them with specific CDC guidance when it comes to the steps they should take.

Colby College in Waterville says an employee in their athletic department has tested positive for the virus.

The school says the employee is in self-quarantine at home with relatively mild symptoms.

The school has contacted people who came into close contact with the employee. They are in self-quarantine as well.

It follows a report from the University of Southern Maine that a part-time employee at the school had tested positive for the virus.
