Body found after Stonington fire, explosion

A man is dead after a fire in Stonington.

Crews responded to a report of a fire and an explosion at a home on Fifield Point Rd. just before 9 .m. Sunday.

Crews located human remains that are believed to be 71-year-old David Crutcher, who lived alone at the home.

The man’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.

The cause of the fire and explosion are still under investigation.
