SULLIVAN, Maine (WGAN) The body of a man who fell in the water after the canoe he was in capsized off Maine’s coast has been recovered.

The Maine Marine Patrol says the body of the man, who was out on a canoe to harvest clams, was found around 1:30 Thursday afternoon about 100 yards from shore near Ober’s Cove Road in Flanders Bay, which is located in Sullivan. He had fallen into the water around 10:30 a.m.

Another man accompanying him managed to swim to shore and call 911.

The Maine Marine Patrol says the men didn’t appear to be wearing life jackets.
