Body of woman found in South Portland identified

The death of a woman whose body was found in the woods near the South Portland Home Depot has been ruled a homicide.

Police have also released the woman’s name.

According to the Maine Dept. of Public Safety, the woman has been identified as 52-year-old Danielle Goodwin of Freeport.

Officers located her body after they were called to Clark’s Pond Parkway at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are now asking for the public’s help in finding the vehicle Goodwin was last seen in.

It’s a blue 2016 Honda CRV with Maine license plate 2773VM.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Maine State Police.

A press release sent out Thursday night by the public safety department included no information about a suspect.
