Boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Lewiston

LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN)   Police say a 10-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Lewiston.

Authorities say the boy suffered a severe head injury and was taken to the hospital. The collision happened in the middle of Sabattus Street on Monday evening.

The Sun Journal reports that the boy was identified as Jamal Hussein. Police also released the name of the driver, 75-year-old Linda Vigil of Sabattus, who was not injured.

Police say no charges have been filed.
