Boyfriend of woman shot in Aroostook County taken into custody

EASTON, Maine (WGAN) The boyfriend of an Aroostook County woman who was shot inside of her home is facing charges as an investigation gets underway.

Shannon Moss with the Maine Department of Public Safety says police received a 911 call from 24-year-old Joshua Prestwood of Easton the night of Jan. 26th as he was driving his girlfriend to the hospital.

Prestwood told authorities his girlfriend had been shot during a home invasion, and that the suspect fled the scene.

An investigation followed, and Prestwood was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 1st. He was charged with Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault, Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, and Domestic Violence Reckless Conduct.

The victim, whose name is not being released, was in stable condition on Tuesday.
