A 22-year-old man is accused of assaulting a woman numerous times with a gun and holding her against her will in Brewer Monday.

Police say the woman managed to escape and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Officers say they tracked down Richard Bock to a home on Riverview Terrace in Brewer, and due to his violent history and their belief he was armed, decided to bring in a tactical team with the assistance of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

After obtaining a search warrant for the residence as well as arrest warrants for the suspect, police attempted to talk to Bock but say he initially would not communicate, and a door to the residence was breached. They say communication was eventually established and Bock came out of the home to be arrested.

Officers say Bock had two active sets of bail conditions and an active arrest warrant for revocation of his probation.

He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Restraint, Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault, Creating a Police Standoff and Violation of Release Conditions.
