A horrific event could’ve been much worse, but nonetheless a Sabattus family is rattled following a bullet piercing through the wall of their granddaughter’s bedroom.

To make matters worse, Sabattus police state they are unsure of where the bullet may have come from.

“The date that this happened, hunting season had not effectively started yet, so we are assuming that this may have been someone who might’ve been target practicing,” Sabattus Police Lieutenant Dan Davies said.

Davies says incidents like this happen often in other parts of the country, but its been several years since Sabattus had a gun accident. An incident that he says serves as a reminder of how paramount gun safety is, especially with hunting season on the horizon.

“It is something, especially in a small community like this that kind of really enhances the importance of firearm safety and hunter safety,” Davies said.

The family involved in the incident has asked to remain anonymous, they are still recovering emotionally, but no one was physically harmed.
